Historic Buildings

The Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center spans four historic buildings in the heart of downtown Calico Rock, Arkansas. From the deck of the Ozark Queen steamboat and the shelves of the historic General Store to a hand-built Shawnee wickiup along the river, every exhibit tells the story of the people who shaped this rugged yet beautiful corner of the Ozarks.

Our Discovery Center invites visitors to uncover why Calico Rock became a natural hub for settlement and how early residents thrived here from 1831 to 1967. The Windgate Art Gallery and E.C. Rodman Atrium bring world-class fine art to the Arkansas hills — a collection that rivals galleries in cities many times our size.

"A hidden gem in the Ozarks. The staff was incredibly welcoming, the exhibits are thoughtfully curated, and the art gallery rivals anything I've seen in much larger cities. Absolutely worth a visit."
