Come meet our artists on the first Saturday of every month from April though November on Main Street in Calico Rock, Arkansas. Artists demonstrate their craft and meet patrons in the Artisan Gift Shop. The schedule of artists changes monthly and is subject to change. For more information, contact us at 870-297-6100.

How a vacant shop became a vibrant hub for local talent

When the Calico Rock Community Foundation bought a Main Street building in 2008, they inherited an empty storefront and a bank loancalicorockartist.com. Instead of letting the space sit idle, the foundation turned it into an opportunity: they invited local artisans to sell their handmade work for a small commission and to volunteer one day a month to keep the doors open.

The idea took off. What began with 12 vendors has grown into a cooperative of more than 70 artists. Members create one‑of‑a‑kind pieces—from pottery and jewelry to woodwork and textiles—in their home studios across a 150‑mile radius. By sharing a single storefront, these artists keep traditional Ozark crafts alive and introduce them to new audiencescalicorockartist.com.

The Artisan Cooperative is more than a shop; it’s a community project. Every commission dollar supports the foundation’s work to revitalize Main Street, ensuring that your purchase helps sustain Calico Rock’s historic downtown as well as its creative economy.

Are you a maker within roughly 50 miles of Calico Rock? We’re a community of 70+ artists who share a storefront and support each other’s work. When you join, you’ll sell your creations on a small commission, volunteer one day a month to keep the shop open, and help keep traditional crafts alive. Every commission dollar goes back into revitalizing our historic downtown and museum.
